two good finds

The first good find is my hubby, who is celebrating his birthday today. You make 37 look gooood, sweetie!

And here's the second: I found this little dress, unfinished, at a yard sale recently. It's big through the top and also on the short side, so to wear out it will need an undershirt and maybe leggings. But it's fine for around the house just like this.

The seam at the waist was a little rough, so I neatened it up a bit. Not as much as I'd like, but the stitches are microscopic and very hard to pick out. I also hemmed it.
And added buttons and buttonholes.
It's very girly,
and very twirly.
Take a bow!
I may have to make many more; it's too cute!

If you'd like the knitting pattern for the hat, it's still available in the Artfire shop.

perfect

If only the computer could bring you the smell and taste.

And if only the grass in the background was as nice as the strawberries!

better therapy

After the comments from the last post, I decided to take my readers' wise advice and uncrumple the poor innocent piece of paper. The CPSIA is not its fault, after all. I decided instead to fold it into a paper crane. It seemed a fitting symbol of hope, and there she sits until the ideas contained within are needed once more. Japanese legend says that if I fold 999 more of these, my wish will come true. If I make it that far, I'll wish away the CPSIA, okay?
And after that, we decided upon another bit of therapy. This is my very pre-1985 copy of We Help Mommy, beloved in my childhood, but victim of a bit of a storage disaster. Lydia helped me Mod-Podge the cover back together, and there it sits to dry. It's one of her favorite books now, so we had to salvage it best we could.

So those are my acts of quiet activism for today. And if you'd like to make your own paper crane, click here.

still makes me fume sometimes...

I've been cleaning and sorting various piles of clutter in my house this week. DH is on vacation, so I've taken advantage of the extra help to try and put things in order.

In one such pile, I just found this paper. It's a list of ideas for my business, from the days when I made and sold toys; the days when I thought our government was by the people and for the people; the days when I thought that members of congress actually represented the voters who elected them. Days of blissful ignorance, before I found out about CPSIA.

So I promptly crumpled it into the condition you see here. If it can't be used for the ideas written on it, it might as well be used for therapy.
